Configuring Windows 98SE/ME

The following pages will show you how to setup a connection manually within Windows 98SE/ME.

Standard Dialup Connection

1) Goto the "my computer" icon on your desktop then select (double click) Dial Up Networking.

Now you should have the following screen:

2) Select (double click) Make New Connection

Enter the name of the connection you are creating e.g izR Solutions.

The computer should automatically select your current modem.

3) Click on Next

Enter the telephone number that you wish to connect to.
Our standard dialup number is 0845 601 5361 and international access number is + 44 (0) 870 010 1253

When you have entered the phone number, click Next which will move you onto step 4.

Click on Finish

You should now be back at Dial Up Networking and you will see that a new icon has appeared, before you proceed to use the connection there are couple of settings you need to change.

5) Put your mouse over the new icon and click once with your right mouse button and a box should appear as follows:-

6) Click on Properties

You now need to click on " Server Types " at the top of the box. With some older versions of Windows the " Server Types " option is at the bottom of the box.

7) Windows will set certain things up as default. You will need to remove the ticks from "Log on to network", "NetBEUI" and "IPX/SPX Compatible". If these options are left tick this can causes problems with connection.

8) Once you have finished, click OK (this will return you to the Dialup Networking Menu)

Your new izR connection is ready to use, to connect double click on the izR icon.

Enter your username and password which is listed on your Certificate of Registration.

Click Connect

You are now on your way to getting connected to izR
